The term ‘holistic’ means to encompass the whole person, this includes your mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health. It takes a deeper look into health issues and aims to find the root cause instead of traditional medicine which mainly treats symptoms instead of causes. This isn’t to say that we’ll ignore your symptoms, it just means that along side treating them we will also ask your body, why?

This answer has 2 parts.
Firstly: We’re all individuals, you’ve probably heard the term that we’re all as unique as our fingerprints? This is very much true when it comes to health as well. Your unique makeup, history, personality, habits, preferences, microbiome and subconscious all make up how your body responds to the food you consume. What is ‘healthy’ for one person might actually cause inflammation and bloating for another. Let’s take salads and raw foods for example, when someone says ‘healthy diet’ I think a lot of people will imagine low calorie salads and plain chicken breast right? But for a lot of people eating raw foods like salad is actually too harsh on their digestive system, causing gas, bloating, pain and inflammation across the body.
Secondly: This might sound strange coming from a nutritionist, but diet isn’t everything. You’re eating perfectly but not addressing your trauma? Your body is trying to communicate with you and it’s using illness or physical symptoms to do that. You’re eating perfectly but not adding movement into your week? Or mindfulness? Or are you stressed 24/7, not sleeping well and expecting your body to be at it’s best just because you’re eating ‘right’? You are a puzzle made up of many different, beautiful and unique pieces, and to be at your best you have to have them all in the right place.

I love this question! This one really comes down to your brain. Your brain and body work together to keep you safe, if they have found safety in dysfunction (full time fight or flight for example) for a long time, that’s where they’re going to want to stay. They’re not working against you, they just don’t know any different. That’s one possible reason; another one is your intentions going in to making changes toward your health goals. Ask yourself why you’re starting? Is it because you think losing weight will make you happy or more beautiful? Do you believe that reaching a certain (possibly unattainable right now) health goal will fix all your other problems in life? Make you more satisfied? a better partner? Parent? Worker? These reasons are reducing you to either your physical appearance, your worthiness to others based on what you can do for them or your worthiness for happiness in life. Your subconscious is telling you one or more of these ‘truths’: You’re not worthy, you’re not safe, you’re alone or you’re not important. Where did your brain find these negative beliefs? That’s different for everyone but is a major part of the work I do. You are a wonderful, multifaceted human being, when you want to make health changes you need to start from a place of love and self-compassion to see long lasting and consistent changes. To do that you need to address any mental blocks you have.

Someone asked me this the other day, and my answer may seem simple (it’s harder than it sounds). Start building self-trust and safety within your nervous system by coming at any problem or concern with curiosity. Instead of making a mistake or having a negative thought and saying internally ‘That was wrong’, ‘I’m stupid for thinking that way’ or ‘I shouldn’t do that’. Instead, be a bystander to your own mind and say to yourself ‘that was interesting. Why did that happen that way?’ ‘I wonder why I feel this way about this situation?’. Write down what you notice and reflect with compassion for yourself. Imagine you’re when you reflect that you’re discussing this with your younger self or your child/niece or nephew. How would you respond to them? Show yourself that same love and patience. This is a great place to start because then if you decide to come and see me you already know where the sticking points are for you.

This is such a valid question, it’s also why I offer a free discovery call with me. In this call you can get to know me, see if my vibe is right for you and ask any extra questions you have to make you feel like you’re making the best decision for a practitioner. If I’m not the one? I can help point you in the right direction if you let me know what you’re looking for.

This varies for everyone depending on your individual needs. My ultimate goal is to make myself redundant and to empower you to make health choices in a way that suits you and your best interests. Whether that happens in 3 sessions or 12 really depends on your situation and how much work you’re willing to put in.

I currently only work online, which is amazing as it means I can meet people from all over and help you on your healing journey without you having to leave your house!
-
Absolutely! Achieving optimal health is a journey and I am not egotistical enough to believe that I will be the only person you need to see to reach your goals. Health practitioners should be working together as the ultimate cheerleading squad for you to reach our goals.

Certain symptoms of chronic illnesses can be managed with nutrition, that’s not say they will go away completely (although they might), but they can definitely get better. This is due to nutritional biochemistry; all the processes that are happening within your body at all times are driven by how our body uses the fuel that we give it. For example: Imagine you accidentally cut your finger.
Step one: The Injury Happens
Your skin breaks, and your body jumps into action to repair it. This involves rebuilding the tissue and stopping infection.Step 2: Vitamin C Steps In
To repair the tissue, your body needs collagen – a protein that acts like scaffolding to hold your skin, blood vessels, and other tissues together.Step 3: Vitamin C = Collagen Builder
Your body can’t properly make collagen without Vitamin C. It acts as a helper molecule (called a cofactor) for the enzymes that build collagen. Without it, those enzymes don’t work well.Step 4: Faster Healing
With enough Vitamin C, your body repairs the cut faster and more effectively, keeping your skin strong and your blood vessels sealed.Say we look at this from the perspective of a chronic illness, like endometriosis. Endo and its symptoms are fuelled by an oversaturation of oestrogen in the system. The liver is the main resource the body has to eliminate oestrogen.
To do this it needs vitamins like B12, folate and B6. If we increase the amount of these vitamins going in to and being properly absorbed by your body, your enzymes are then supported to break down oestrogen into forms that the liver finds easier to get rid of, meaning you have a reduction in symptoms.
Pretty cool huh?
